Believing that our three-dimensional life experience profoundly teaches and expands our souls alongside the universe’s growth, my symbolic abstract and surrealist paintings, coupled with the soundscapes I create through DJing, offer a spiritual intervention for those who experience my work. As an African American woman navigating a country where my physical body and skin shape perceptions of my identity, my absence in my work leads me to view myself as both a time traveler and a UFO (unidentified flying observer). Through my art, I explore how the wounds and secrets of my historical and generational past shapes my soul’s present need to heal and seek truth within to find the liberation my ancestors never did. Through the aesthetic lens of Afro-futurism, I intertwine my personal journey of discovering my soul’s identity with my connection to the Universe, visually reimagining its profound enigmas. This exploration encompasses themes such as the study of God, death, the afterlife, reincarnation, higher dimensions, extraterrestrial life, and astronomical phenomena like black holes and dark matter, with a central focus on expansion.
